SomePINOY in YouTube!

Sometimes we need not to be serious all the time, making plans in the future, trying our very best to achieve our goals and become someone. Comedy, joke, jest, slapstick, humor, whatever you call it, that's what keeps us going. It's an art, pastime, entertainment, can even be considered as a therapy.

I myself have loved watching comedies since I was a kid. Be it Andrew E's movies, local TV shows like Ober the Bakod, Tropang Trumpo, Bubble Gang, Nuts Entertainment, silliest antics of people in America's Funniest Home Videos, stand up comedies at Comedy Central, of course there are the Hollywood movies like Meet the Parents and hey, there's MakeMeLOL and YouTube! In fact, Pinoys are known to be funny, it's in our blood and culture. We got our own style of comedy and it may be corny, silly, shallow or green minded. hehe.

And finally, it's great to see Filipinos being hilarious and entertaining people all over the world thru YouTube. Let's take a peek, shall we?!

Here's American-born Filipina Christine a.k.a. Happy Slip who's now making it big in YouTube.

Another one is the amazing participation of 1,500+ CPDRC inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Cebu, Philippines! Check out the teaser.

You see?! We have the potential to be the next Jim Carrey or Eddie Murphy! Lol.

Oh my... oh my Havaianas!

Looks like my treasured flip flops are giving up on me one by one. Sadly, this is the second Havaianas to conk out on me this year. I have always believed that this is the most durable brand, hoping that it would endure my slipshod walking for 5 years or so, but I was wrong.

As a matter of fact, my 2 pairs of havaianas got busted in the same manner. Pay attention guys! Although Havaianas are made of resilient rubber, its structure has its most feeble point too. You see, the Y rubber strap may be flexible, but the fraction that is inserted in the side holes are quite brittle. I have the habit of standing on my slippers with my feet slightly skewed, hence, putting all my weight in that fragile section. After a year of squandering my dear slip-ons, 2 out of 11 pairs are now broken. Those 2 were my most favorite pairs. Though I can still have them repaired by
manong sapatero (shoemaker), I'm afraid I cannot use them anymore during gimmicks.

The Havaianas in the picture has gone kaput just this afternoon. The mokongs (my guy office buddies) were very kind enough to temporarily repair it so I could go home without walking barefoot. Being the resourceful guys that we are, we had managed to use a thin wire (commonly found to hold earphones and charger cables) and we had removed its outer cover. Luckily, I have a big perdible pin in my bin, we had used it to create a small hole in the rubber. The funny part was that we were trying very hard to heat up the pin without triggering the smoke alarm. The guys did their best to just inhale the smoke (rubber + heat= stinking smell) so as it wouldn't reach the alarm. Very stupid of us to make a scene in the office when there's no problem in doing it outside. Lol. Anyway, thanks guys!

I want to learn Aikido!

I've just watched Belly of the Beast (2003) here in my thinkpad. Okay, I know, I'm 4 years behind schedule to watch this movie (*loser coughs*). Oh well, I just happen to see the DVD in the shelf and that's when I decided to check it out. It was my first time to watch a Steven Seagal movie (*total loser coughs*) and surprisingly, I was amazed with his Aikido skills. I was watching his fight scenes in awe and I couldn't believe how he moves smoothly while kicking some ass and breaking someone's bones. And from there, I thought, I'd like to learn that too! But how?! I don't have enough time and I need to save my money for my plans of leaving the country in 2 months time. Oh snap! Perhaps, there's Aikido workshop in Mauritius. Hold on sec, I have to google this!

Okay then, I'm back! There are some martial arts workshops but I still need to search further. Will keep you posted if ever I get the opportunity to pursue this exciting activity 'cause honestly, this is SO NOT ME! lol.

Doctor, doctor, I am sick!

This is my 3rd day to call in sick due to several reasons. I got:

>>> COLD SORES in my nose and I don't know where I got them. My officemates keep on teasing me that I absent myself due to some pimple problem! Yeah right, I just wish it's just a pimple. These cold sores are very painful which I didn't expect at all. Thanks to Dr. Google from which I consulted for medication. After reading a lot of forums, I rushed to the drugstore and bought hydrogen peroxide (for cleaning), nasal saline spray (for moisturizing) and trimycin-H ointment (for treatment). Right now, the sores in my nostrils are gone. What's only left is the pimple-like sore outside my nose. At least, I was able to save some moolah by not consulting a real doctor. Lol.

>>> MUMPS or just SWOLLEN LYMPHNODES right below my ears. As usual, I did self medication by using placing hot compress every night and voila, they're gone! :)

>>> NONSTOP MENSTRUAL PERIOD and yes, I know, right?! I must consult a real doctor this time. :(

No matter what, I have to report in the office by Monday. Otherwise, I have nothing to expect come payday. Yes, I'm still on probation, hence, the no work no pay policy. :(

Filipino Foods: I smell something yummy!

Okay, on to my most favorite topic - FOOD! Filipino foods reflect the history of our country. Nowadays, there's a variety of cuisine fusions - foreign dishes altered to satisfy Pinoys' taste buds. Here are some of my favorites:

Our very own Pinoy Transformers

Filipinos are known to be very creative, at the same time, expert in plagiarizing stuff, from pirated DVDs to Havaianas with the knockoff Hawaianas. But sometimes, our being resourceful and artistic can be amazing and amusing as well like these Pinoy Transformers:

Tagaytay City

Okay, I must admit, I'm promoting our tourist spots here in the Philippines. Perhaps, this would be my way of making it up to my motherland since I'm about to leave her soon. Awww, alright enough of the drama. Going back to Tagaytay City, cold weather, picturesque view of the infamous Taal Volcano, mouth-watering mushroom burgers and buko (coconut) pies, endless horseback riding and blossoming flowers everywhere ~ all of these in one city, Tagaytay, which I refer to as the nearest summer capital from Manila (setting aside Baguio). We went there last month for a tripping (Mama's term for checking out houses and lots for sale). Of course, since we're already there, I suggested that we take a stroll around Sonya's Secret Garden and drop by Leslie's for dinner. Here are the pictures, enjoy!

Intramuros, Manila

Coming back to Intramuros, Manila is always a breathtaking experience. This used to be my second home during college as my alma mater is located in this historical place. I've been wanting to come back here for a photo op but my work does not permit me. Good thing I have to request for new copies of my diploma and transcript, hence, I had a valid reason to visit the place again. Here are some pictures that I've taken during my visit two weeks ago. The natural lighting was horrendous since it was about to rain at that time.

What's in the title?!

Obviously, I'm a Gwen Stefanie groupie and I just fell in love with The Sweet Escape album. Her songs are wonderful which had brought me last song syndromes. lol.

On the other hand, I'm hoping that this blog would serve as my outlet in expressing my thoughts, dramas, bloopers and escapades in life.

Looking forward to posting more entries! :) Thanks to blogger!
